Have you noticed some of your plants are not doing thriving?

This past winter has taken a heavy toll on landscape plant materials due to the extreme cold weather and above average snowfall amounts. Per NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Admin) indicated that the months of January through March ranked 4th coldest in 120 years of recorded data. Therefore, you may notice that some of your plants are in distress, have died back in portions or in whole. For the nurseries, the largest hit species include the following:

  1. Fir trees (Concolor, Japanese and Turkish)
  2. Red Maple
  3. Barberry
  4. Boxwood
  5. Redbud
  6. Dogwood (Kousa)
  7. St. John’s Wort
  8. Holly
  9. Inkberry
  10. Tamarack Larch
  11. Yellow Delicious Apple
  12. Russian Cypress
  13. Pitch Pine
  14. Japanese Black Pine
  15. Virginia Pine
  16. Emerald Arborvitae
  17. Itea Little Henry
  18. Western Cedar Arborvitae
  19. Eastern Hemlock
  20. Doublefile Viburnum
